Netflix recently announced casting news for fan favorites Delirium, Destiny, and Destruction for the upcoming season two of The Sandman. Production of season two has been ongoing since November 2023, with filming expected to conclude in August and a projected release date in 2025. The new season will consist of 12 episodes and cover the Season of Mists and Brief Lives story arcs from the comics, along with standalone tales like A Midsummer Night’s Dream and The Song of Orpheus.
Esmé Creed-Miles will be playing the character of Delirium, who is known for her childish and excitable nature as the youngest of the Endless siblings. She has mismatched eyes and dresses depending on her mood, exuding excitement and joy. Delirium is best known for her search for her missing brother, Destruction, alongside her brother Dream. Creed-Miles has a family connection to The Sandman, as her mother voiced a character in Audible’s Sandman dramatization.
Barry Sloane has been cast as Destruction, also known as The Prodigal, who abandoned his duties after realizing humanity’s inevitable self-destruction. Despite his name, Destruction also embodies creation, showcasing the theme of juxtaposition present in all the Endless siblings. Sloane had previously hinted at his involvement in the series through a live-stream, adding to the anticipation of fans.
Adrian Lester will be playing Destiny, the all-knowing and eldest Endless sibling who resides in a misty labyrinth, chained to a book that contains knowledge of past and future events. Destiny kicks off the Season of Mists storyline, where he gathers his siblings for an important family meeting.
