Market watchers foresee a surge in sectors such as Railways, Infrastructure, Defence, Electric City, and Public Sector Companies (PSUs) if Prime Minister Narendra Modi is re-elected. Companies in these sectors have already shown remarkable growth, with defense companies like Astra Microwave Products and Hindustan Aeronautics gaining 124% and 194% respectively. Other companies such as NIBE Limited, Bharat Dynamics, Data Pattern, and Paras Defense and Space Technologies have also delivered strong returns ranging from 35% to 298%.

Over 50 PSU companies have seen growth of over 100% in the last year, with Cochin Shipyard leading with a 387% increase in returns. Companies like IRFC, IFCI, Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO), and REC have also witnessed growth of over 300%. Mehta believes that the PSU sector holds promise, particularly in defense, power, and banking. He advises investors to consider long term investments or mutual funds, while those versed in company fundamentals can explore direct equity investments.
