18 Dangerous Criminals Escape from Prison in PoK

Around 18 dangerous criminals, including 6 individuals who were sentenced to death, managed to escape from a prison in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The escape occurred when a prisoner at Rawalkot jail allegedly threatened a guard with a gun to hand over the keys to the facility. Among the fugitives, 6 were on death row while 3 were serving life sentences. Tragically, one prisoner was shot dead during the escape attempt, who was serving a five-year sentence.

In response to this incident, police have launched a large-scale search operation in the surrounding area. Furthermore, an investigation has been initiated by the authorities to ascertain the circumstances that enabled the escape. To address the security lapse, the jail chief and several officials have been discharged from their duties. Additionally, a number of officials have been taken into custody for questioning in relation to the incident.

Officials Detained and Security Measures Implemented

According to reports from Samaa TV, seven officials, including the deputy superintendent of Rawalakot jail, have been detained in connection with the security breach. An investigation into the breach has been initiated to determine the weaknesses in the security protocols that allowed for the escape. To prevent any further incidents, all prisons in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir have been placed on high alert. The government has also pursued a judicial commission to look into the factors contributing to the escape and to prevent similar incidents in the future.
