The court in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh has delivered justice to a woman who was raped 30 years ago at the age of 12 by two real brothers. The victim, now a mother as a result of the assault, had tears in her eyes upon hearing the news that the culprits were sentenced to 10 years imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 30,000 each. She expressed relief and satisfaction that the perpetrators will now face the consequences of their actions after so many years of tears and suffering.
The incident occurred in 1994 when the victim, living at her brother-in-law’s house, was raped by Naki Hasan and his brother Guddu. The brutal act left the young girl pregnant, and she gave birth to a son at the age of 13. The child was handed over to others, and the victim later got married, only for her husband to abandon her upon learning about the assault. After 27 years, at the insistence of her son, the victim sought justice in court. Following DNA matching, the real brothers were arrested, leading to the recent sentencing by the Additional District Judge.
Government advocate Rajeev Awasthi confirmed that the prosecution was for the case dating back to 1994, where the 12-year-old victim was raped by the accused while she was alone at home. The traumatic experience resulted in her becoming a mother at a very young age, causing her significant emotional distress.
