Rajasthan: Major accident in Jhunjhunu mine, 14 officers trapped inside due to lift breaking, rescue continues

A major accident occurred in Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan, where the lift broke down in the Kolihan mine of Hindustan Copper Limited, trapping 14 officers including a vigilance team inside. The police and rescue team immediately responded, and efforts are ongoing to rescue the trapped individuals who are approximately 577 meters deep inside the mine. Khetri MLA Dharampal Gurjar visited the site and assessed the situation, and an ambulance and medical team have been summoned to assist in the rescue operation.

Khatedi, also known as Copper City, is an area in Rajasthan where many residents are involved in mining and the crusher business. The Khetri Copper Project, operated by Hindustan Copper Limited, is a significant source of employment for the local population. Khetri is also historically important, as it is known as the birthplace of Swami Vivekananda and was where Raja Ajit Singh introduced him to the world as Swami Vivekananda, ultimately sending him abroad. Thousands of people work in the mines here, making it a vital economic hub for the region.
