One woman killed and six injured after two parties clash in land dispute

Land Dispute Turns Fatal in Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh

A land dispute in Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh turned violent, resulting in the death of an elderly woman and injuries to six other people. The incident occurred in Katghar Jalal village of Saraimir police station area when one party allegedly attacked another with sticks and iron rods over the disputed land. The victims, including Gautam, brother Parasnath, niece Vishakha, Shashi Dewal, and two others, were seriously injured in the attack, and Gautam’s mother, Kewalpati Devi, age 60, tragically lost her life.

Police were informed about the incident and promptly arrived at the scene. They took the injured individuals to a nearby hospital for treatment and the deceased’s body was sent for postmortem. An FIR has been registered against 13 individuals, including four women, based on the complaint filed by the victims. The accused face charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including voluntarily causing hurt, intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace, criminal intimidation, and attempt to commit culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

Police Investigate and Take Legal Action

The police, led by Additional Superintendent of Police Chirag Jain, are actively investigating the case. Jain stated that upon receiving information about the violent conflict, law enforcement officials immediately responded by taking the injured to the hospital. Tragically, Kewalapati Devi succumbed to her injuries and passed away at the hospital. Her body has been sent for postmortem. The perpetrators are currently being sought, and arrests are expected to be made soon. Further legal action will be taken in accordance with the law based on the evidence gathered through the investigation. The police are working diligently to bring those responsible for the violence to justice and ensure that peace is restored in the community.
