Om Birla has been re-elected as the Speaker of the Lok Sabha for the second consecutive term, taking charge for the 18th Lok Sabha. After being escorted to the Speaker’s chair by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, a round of congratulations ensued. PM Modi commended Om Birla for his leadership and expressed confidence in his ability to guide the House for the next five years.
