Azam Khan receives a 10-year jail sentence in Dungarpur case, announced by MP-MLA court

Azam Khan Sentenced to 10 Years Imprisonment in Dungarpur Case

Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan has been sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment in the Dungarpur case of Rampur. The MP MLA court handed down this verdict based on a case filed by Abrar against Azam Khan, retired CO Ale Hasan Khan, and Barkat Ali Contractor in December 2019. According to the plaintiff, Azam Khan and the others physically assaulted him, damaged his property, and issued death threats. The incident dates back to December 2016, with the case being registered three years later.

Verdict Reserved on Barkat Ali Thekedar

On 29 May, Azam Khan and Barkat Ali Thekedar were convicted in the case, with the court reserving the decision on their sentences for a later date. Azam Khan’s wife, Tanzeen Fatima, was released on bail the day before the sentencing. Today, the MP MLA Special Court announced a 10-year imprisonment for Azam Khan and 7 years for Barkat Ali Thekedar. Retired CO Ale Hasan Khan’s file was separated from the case due to a stay order from the High Court.

Legal Consequences for Azam Khan and Barkat Ali Thekedar

The sentencing of Azam Khan to 10 years brings legal consequences for the prominent politician. With this ruling, Azam Khan will have to serve a lengthy prison term for his actions in the Dungarpur case. Similarly, Barkat Ali Thekedar’s 7-year sentence signals accountability for his involvement in the assault and destruction of Abrar’s property. The legal process has progressed swiftly since the conviction, with Azam Khan’s wife already being released on bail. The separate legal proceedings for Ale Hasan Khan indicate the complexities of the case and the need for adherence to legal procedures.
